Chief Engineer
Department: Capital Construction and Engineering
Reports To: Director of Capital Construction and Engineering
About the Role
We’re seeking a hands-on, highly organized Chief Engineer to join our Capital Construction and Engineering team. This dual-role position blends administrative oversight with direct maintenance responsibilities across a diverse portfolio of commercial offices, retail spaces, garages, parking lots, and healthcare offices and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative (40%)
Schedule and manage preventive maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
Prioritize and manage work orders using Yardi
Maintain compliance records and service documentation
Coordinate with vendors and oversee service contracts
Ensure OSHA, NFPA, ADA, and healthcare compliance
Support budgeting, inventory, and capital project planning
Supervise and train maintenance staff
Field Operations (60%)
Perform and lead hands-on repairs (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
Conduct inspections of building interiors and exteriors
Respond to emergency maintenance issues promptly
Collaborate with property management and maintenance teams to ensure facility readiness
Enforce safety practices and proper equipment use
Qualifications
4–6 years in facilities maintenance; 2+ years in a supervisory role
High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade certification preferred
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
Proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Valid driver’s license; EPA 608 and OSHA 10/30 preferred
